Choosing The Perfect Curtains For An Ambient Home
No home is complete without the perfect window treatments and home accessories necessary to create ambiance. Consumers today have many choices of curtain fabrics from which to choose. There are also many different retailers with drapes and home decor for almost any budget. Start with an assessment of your entire house. Room by room, make a plan for the desired effect. Think about how this will effect the entire home as a whole. Then, browse catalogs or websites to narrow down the items you will be shopping for in person. Once you have a better idea of what you want your kitchen windows, shower curtains, and other home decor to accomplish it will be easier to visit a store and make choices.
When it comes to curtains, silk drapes, and dressing kitchen windows you will first need to take measurements. Record these on a tablet that will be easy to find and carry around later on. Next, you will need to decide for what purpose you will need each type of window treatment. Do you need to block light or change the lighting of the room? Will there be a lot of noise inside or outside that will need to be absorbed? What kind of decorations, double curtain rods, and furniture will be in the room you are considering? Kitchen windows will have a very different look than living spaces or bedrooms. Consider the mood for each room when choosing the fabrics.
Curtains can be in the form of many different fabrics such as cotton, polyester, or even silk drapes. Most sheer window treatments are made of silk or lightly woven polyester. These filter light only and will not absorb noise, but can create a beautiful effect. For the most light and noise reduction the best choice is a lined curtain. Shower rods and curtains should coordinate with the rest of the bathroom and the heaviness of each should match. Using a thicker shower curtain calls for a heavier rod and lighter ones should have a thinner shower rod in order to look balanced. Pinch pleat drapes have an interesting effect in a dining room.

Choosing window treatments is a very personal matter. How the home is decorated can affect how others view your home and how its residents feel while living and working within its walls, which makes these choices very important. |
